Problem description

The BER decoding routines in the OpenLDAP2 packages contains a bug which allows remote attackers to crash the LDAP server. This update fixes this behaviour and covers the openldap2 server, the client and the development packages.
Since LDAP servers are commonly used for authentification, an update of these packages is recommended.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh openldap2.rpm openldap2-client.rpm openldap2-devel.rpm
