This happens to all users who installed the nvidia driver via YOU and therefore still used the 1.0-5336 version of the nvidia driver, after updating to the previous kernel update (2.6.5-7.145). Users who don't use the nvidia driver or use a later version of the driver are not affected.
To install the update on an affected system, boot the system into runlevel 3 (by supplying "3" as commandline argument on the boot prompt), then log in as root and run the textmode version of the YaST Online Update:
yast online_update
rpm -Fvh kernel*.rpm
If you are using UML please don't forget to download and install the appropriate packages:
rpm -Fvh um-*.rpm
In case you are using LILO as bootmanager, please make sure that you also execute the command
lilo
after installing the update for the system to remain bootable.
Finally, reboot the system with
shutdown -r now
