Indications

Apply this for a bugfix update of glibc.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

This glibc bugfix update addresses following problems:
All platforms:

Avoid stackoverflow on programs with small stacks on initgroups() call.
Added JFS LINK_MAX constant for LSB on jfs filesystems.
Fixed buffer length handling of snprintf on 64bit architectures.

PowerPC 32bit:

Set the old PowerPC32 setcontext symbolversion to the correct version.

PowerPC 64bit:

Implement a better optimized memcpy. LTC#42069
Fixed the handling of the TOC register in setjmp/longjmp. LTC#9949

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:


rpm -Uvh glibc.rpm glibc-devel.rpm glibc-html.rpm glibc-i18ndata.rpm glibc-info.rpm glibc-locale.rpm glibc-profile.rpm nscd.rpm timezone.rpm

Please reboot after you installed the update.
