Indications

Everyone using the ISC DHCP client should install this update.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

The minires library which is part of the ISC DHCP package is vulnerable to several buffer overflows. A DHCP client can send dynamic DNS update requests to the DHCP server. These requests are handled by the minires library and can be abused to gain unauthorized remote access to the DHCP server.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Uvh dhcp.rpm
