Indications

Update if you have an ATI Radeon 7000 graphics card.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

ATI Radeon 7000 has a bug that can cause the PCI bus (and the computer) to
hang under certain circumstances. The visible effect is that the graphical
boot loader hangs or reboots at random places. This patch implements a
workaround that avoids the bug.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:


rpm -Fvh gfxboot.rpm
