Problem description

A new flaw has been discovered in the samba SMB protocol implementation, known as call_trans2open()-bug.
The flaw is a stack overflow and may allow a remote attacker to gain root access to a system running a samba server.
This package includes the binaries for LDAP based authentication.
It is recommended to immediately install the update package as provided.


Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh samba-ldap.rpm
After applying the update, the samba server must be restarted using the following command
rcsmb try-restart
