Indications

This update is only needed for the installation with Autoyast.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

After booting with the parmfile the machine cannot activate the DASD, which was entered in the parmfile. The DASD-Configuration (select, activate, format) has to be done complete manually with yast or the autoinstallation will not be successful.


Parmfile: AUTOYAST=http://XXX/autoinst.xml DASD_Parameter=dasd=5f07 ramdisk_size=65536 root=/dev/ram1 ro init=/linuxrc TERM=dumb IP_INTERFACE=qeth IP_ADDR=XXX IP_NETMASK=255.255.252.0 IP_BROADCAST=XXX IP_MTU=1500 IP_GATEWAY=XXX IP_HOST=XXX READ_DEVNO=f418 WRITE_DEVNO=f419 DATA_DEVNO=f41a FTPUSER=XXX FTPPASSWORD=secret INST_INFO=ftp INST_IP_ADDR=XXX INST_IP_DIR=SLES-9-s390 INST_PASSWORD=secret AUTOINSTALL=yes INST_SCREEN=VNC VNC_PASSWORD=secret

Yast loads the autoinst.xml AFTER the DASD-Configuration, so there must be a mistake in the syntax of the "DASD-Parameter" in the parmfile.
When the DASD-Configuration was done, Yast runs through and installs the system without anymore "by-hand"-steps according the information in the autoinst.xml.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:


rpm -Fvh yast2-storage.rpm autoyast2.rpm autoyast2-installation.rpm
