(Last modified: 06MAR2007)

solutions Recommended update for libica SuSE Linux Maintenance Web (38fed490a78682cc58d36121cea76723)

Applies to

Package: libica
Product(s): SUSE CORE 9 for IBM S/390 31bit
SUSE CORE 9 for IBM zSeries 64bit
Patch: patch-11449
Release: 20070306
Obsoletes: none

Everyone using z90cryp should install this update.

Problem description

/etc/init.d/z90crypt loads the z90crypt module to deal with hardware crypto devices on the S/390. The start script is responsible for creating the special device in /dev. As the init script has no pre-requisites, it is installed as /etc/init.d/S01z90crypt/. Subsequently, the start script runs before the root file-system is mounted read-writable. Since the /dev file is removed on a clean shutdown, this causes problems on boot.
This update modifies the startup script adding Required-Start dependencies on boot.rootfsck and boot.klog.
