This patch provides the updated kernel sources for the
2.4.13 ppc64 kernel.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

You will need to install this patch if you want to compile your own ppc64 kernel for iSeries or pSeries.
The following problems have been fixed / features have been added:
  • viodasd fix for randomness
  • icom - added new adapters and /proc values
  • added PCI bus error events
  • viodasd fix for major reporting in /proc/devices
  • add diag support to icom driver
  • send error message to stderr when adding a RAM disk and system map
  • fix a build problem in veth.c
  • fix for potential panic in ppc32_select
  • ReiserFS fixes
  • update JFS to 1.0.20
  • update Intel EtherExpress driver e100 to 2.0.30 and e1000 to 4.2.17

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Uvh kernel-source.rpm
