Indications

Improve debugging of ppc ELF64 applications

Problem description

SLES8 ships with the package "cross-ppc64-gdb" to debug 64bit userland
applications.
This version of the debugger had some limitations.
gdb was finally ported to PowerPC64 and can now debug the applications
natively.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:


rpm -Uvh gdb-64bit.rpm
