Package: imlib
imlibdev
Release: 20020603
Obsoletes: none

Indications

Use of programs needing libgdk_imlib.

Problem description

Fixed local/remote security bug. When handling images ImLib can fall back to NetPBM, that is known to be insecure. An attacker can construct an image in a malicious way to crash ImLib or even execute arbitrary commands. Additionally verious errors in using malloc() are fixed.
This update needed to be reissued because the dependency between libgdk_imlib and the modules it loads hadn't been made explicit, leading to possible failure to start programs using libgdk_imlib.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Uvh imlib.rpm rpm -Uvh imlibdev.rpm
