As a temporary workaround, it is possible to disable the automatic loading of kernel modules by running the following command as
echo /no/such/file >/proc/sys/kernel/modprobe
If you do not use the grub bootloader, you should make sure that the boot blocks are initialized after you have successfully performed this kernel update to ensure that your system will start after a reboot.
