Problem description

This update fixes following security problem in the Samba suite:
CAN-2004-0815: A security problem that could have users gain access to files outside of a share has been fixed.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:


rpm -Fvh samba.rpm samba-client.rpm

Please ensure to restart your Samba services as user root with the commands:


rcnmb try-restart
rcwinbind try-restart
rcrcsmb try-restart
