Indications

This update should be installed if you encountered stability problems with our previous update kernel.

Contraindications

If there are no stability problems, update is not necessary.

Problem description

This kernel fixes several stability problems:
  • Crashes on some machines with aic7xxx SCSI driver
  • Rare corrupted LVM snapshots on ReiserFS
  • P4 illegal instruction under high SMP load
  • Theoretical shared memory locking deadlock
  • AMD cache attribute bug

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update provides the source to the new update kernel. Please install it using this command:
rpm -Fhv kernel-source.rpm
