Problem description

The postgresql server is vulnerable to a buffer overflow. The code that converts string data to ASCII data does not correctly check for buffer bounds.
This bug may be used to remotely compromise a system running postgresql server.


Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh postgresql-server.rpm
