Problem description

Several buffer overflows were discovered in libmcrypt which can lead to Denial-of-Service attacks or even remote compromise.
Moreover, the *.la files of the dynamic modules have been moved from the libmcrypt-devel package to the main one, as they are needed to load the modules properly. Their absence may lead to segmentation faults.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh libmcrypt.rpm
