Problem description

The security check in the CGI parseQuery() function of the susehelp package is broken. A remote attacker could insert shell metacharacters in CGI queries to the susehelp system. This could lead to a remote compromise of the system if a webserver and the susehelp system is installed.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.
The update fixes the parseQuery() function to properly filter such characters now.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh susehelp.rpm
