Indications

Everyone using kernel module packages (KMP) should install this update.

Contraindications

None.

Description

When rpm generates Kernel Module Packages (KMPs), it also computes the dependencies between those packages and the kernel packages. This computation has a bug that may result in KMPs to accidentally become incompatible with older kernels that they are actually still compatible with. (This only affects kernels older than the kernels the build is against.) This update fixes the dependency computation.

Installation notes

This update is provided as RPM packages that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh rpm.rpm rpm-devel.rpmf
