Problem description

The packet analyzer tool tcpdump can be tricked to get stuck in an infinite loop by sending malformed ISAKMP or BGP packages. tcpdump will not process any further packages while in this state of endless processing. Additionally a possible buffer overflow in the NFS handling code has been found.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh tcpdump.rpm
