Problem description

This update fixes several security issues:
  • A format string vulnerability in the display program. ( CAN-2005-0397 )
  • A buffer overflow in the SGI image decoder routines.
  • A buffer overflow in the TIFF image decoder routines.
  • A denial of service attack (crash) in the TIFF decoder.
  • A denial of service attack (crash) in the PSD decoder.


Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh ImageMagick.rpm ImageMagick-Magick++.rpm ImageMagick-devel.rpm perl-PerlMagick.rpm
