Indications

Everybody using `ls' in an untrusted environment should update.

Problem description

By using the option -w of `ls' a local user can trigger a denial-of-service
attack. This situation is not very serious. The problem becomes more
dangerous if daemons like wuftpd use `ls' with untrusted input from the
network. The result is a remote denial-of-service attack.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh fileutils.rpm
