Indications

Everybody using ViewCVS should install this update.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

An issue allowing a Cross-site scripting (XSS) attack has been fixed. URLs shown in the error page by ViewCVS were not properly quoted. CAN-2004-1062 has been assigned to this issue.
If ViewCVS is run via mod_python, a restart of apache will be needed to make the update effective (rcapache2 restart). By default, ViewCVS is configured to run as CGI script.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh subversion-viewcvs.rpm
