Indications

This update is required for tape libraries (like Compaq TL891) where mtx 1.1 cannot access more than one drive.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

mtx 1.1 cannot access more than one drive on some tape libraries such as the Compaq TL891. A new version of the mtx packages solves this problem.
Additionally, mtx 1.2 includes the following changes and fixes:
  • Will deal with large media libraries with mor then hundred elements.
  • Supports multi-drive media changers such as the Exabyte 220 dual-drive tape library.
  • Supports the 'invert' bit for optical jukeboxes that need that in order to flip their media.
  • Supports the 'eepos' bits for libraries that need this to extend/retract their import/export tray
  • Now supports import/export elements
  • Reports volume tags (bar codes) and "alternate volume tags" for those tape libraries that support them.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Uvh mtx.rpm
