Indications

All systems using smbclient to copy or print files should install this
update.

Problem description

After a review by the SuSE Security Team the Samba Team reviewed also the client implementation and uncovered various bugs which have now been fixed. Since there is no easy workaround, an update is strongly recommended.
The first version for this problem did't include all required files for the samba-client package.
This package includes the files common to the samba-client-classic and -ldap version. You have also to install either samba-classic-client or samba-ldap-client.
For the client package no further action has to be performed.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:


rpm -Fvh smbclnt.rpm
