Offline Agent Installations
Applies to:
- Cenergy
Issue:
It is sometimes necessary to install the Cenergy agent on a system that is offline or has limited network access.
Resolution:
- Browse to the Cenergy folder on your Primary Command Server machine and make a copy of rsinst.ini in another location (you will use this to restore your configuration after you've created the single executable).
- Edit rsinst.ini:
- Find the end of the section labeled setup.dat. The last line should begin with File 30 or File 31.
- Add the following line, where XX equals the incremented number from the previous line:
FileXX=rsinst.exe
- Save rsinst.ini.
- From the Cenergy Console on this machine run the Deploy Agent Wizard. This will generate a new setup.dat file to be used for the single file installation.
- Browse to the Cenergy\Archive\ folder.
- Copy setup.dat to a safe location (like the server's desktop).
- Rename the copied setup.dat to setup.exe. This will be your single executable installation file.
- Rename your new rsinst.ini to rsini.offline.ini (for future use), and copy your backup copy of the rsinst.ini back into your \Cenergy folder.
- Run the Deploy Agent Wizard again to finish resetting your system.
- Take the new setup.exe you have created and send it to your users for installation. Please note that they will still require Administrative rights on Windows NT, 2000, and XP systems.
- Browse to the Cenergy folder on your Primary Command Server machine and make a copy of rsinst.ini in another location (you will use this to restore your configuration after you've created the single executable).
