Tools and How-To
Use these links to find the appropriate tools and step-by-step instructions for your deployment project.Server Installation
An Open Enterprise Server for NetWare server must be installed first to prepare the tree and provide IPX communication with the NetWare 4 servers. After the network is sufficiently updated to support Open Enterprise Server for NetWare and TCP/IP communication, you can install Open Enterprise Server for Linux servers. You should plan to phase out NetWare 4.x as soon as possible, since it is no longer supported by Novell. Server Upgrade
Direct (in-place) upgrades are not supported from NetWare 4.x to Open Enterprise Server for Linux.
Data Consolidation (Server-to-Server Copy)
Data consolidations from NetWare 4.x to Open Enterprise Server for Linux are not supported. You can use the Server Consolidation and Migration Toolkit 1.1 to copy data to NetWare 6.5, and then from NetWare 6.5 to Open Enterprise Server for Linux. This requires IPX to be loaded on the source and destination NetWare servers. The minimum version of directory services is NDS 6.21. Printing Upgrade/Migration
