Overview

Novell Technical Support provides this document for the purpose of helping customers during an upgrade or install of eDirectory 8.7.x. It is important to note that you should use this document in conjunction with the product documentation. This document is a LIVING document and will be updated frequently to keep the most current and up to date information available to all customers.

Since this is a LIVING document, all changes made after the previous modified date will be marked with three asteriks and then the month (***SEP) where SEP will be the abbreviation for the month the modification was made. This will make scans for just changes a little more efficient.

Pre-upgrade Steps

----------- BACKING UP DIRECTORY SERVICES -----------

Grab a database backup for each server being upgraded. The easiest way to backup the dibs is to do the following:

1. /etc/init.d/ndsd stop
2. tar up your dib directory
3. Make a copy your nds.conf
4. /etc/init.d/ndsd start

CURRENT ISSUES:

NOVL86466 - iMonitor fails on UNIX after eDirectory 8.7 upgrade
The "NDS iMonitor" link on the "DHost HTTP Server" page cannot be found

NOVL86765 - eDirectory 8.7 installation fails on Solaris 9

NOVL83090 - NDSD dumps core after being up for a few minutes
