iMonitor fails on UNIX after eDirectory 8.7 upgrade

The "NDS iMonitor" link on the "DHost HTTP Server" page cannot be found

cause

Invalid or missing SSL Certificate (Key Material Object)

Authentication requires TLS is set to on

fix

Solution 1: Open up the clear text port for iMonitor
1. Open ConsoleOne
2. Open the properties of the http server object for the server on which iMonitor is running
3. Click on the Other tab
4. Modify the httpAuthRequireTLS attribute value from 1 to 0 and click OK
5. Stop eDirectory /etc/init.d/ndsd stop
6. Start eDirectory /etc/init.d/ndsd start

Solution 2: Create and link a valid SSL certificate
1. Open ConsoleOne
2. Create a new or use an existing valid SSL Certificate
3. Open the properties of the http server object for the server on which iMonitor is running
4. Click on the Other tab
5. Add or Edit the httpKeyMaterialObject attribute
6. Select the valid SSL Certificate for the httpKeyMaterialObject value and click OK
7. Stop eDirectory /etc/init.d/ndsd stop
8. Start eDirectory /etc/init.d/ndsd start

eDirectory 8.7 for UNIX platforms introduced the DHost HTTP server. In previous versions of eDirectory, iMonitor would listen directly on port 80 and 81. With the HTTP stack (httpstk), iMonitor registers it's URL /nds with the HTTP stack. It is the HTTP stack that now listens on port 80 and 443 by default. The HTTP stack parameters are controlled with the Http Server object. This means that the URL "http://localhost" on previous versions of eDirectory would go directly to iMonitor. With eDirectory 8.7 and the HTTP stack, the same URL now points to the HTTP stack. The equivalent iMonitor URL for eDirectory 8.7 is "http://localhost/nds".
