Novell eDirectory 8.7 for Solaris
Installation
symptom
ERROR: "%% OS : SunOS VERSION : 5.9 - not supported . Quitting ."
cause
Solaris 2.6 (SunOS 5.6) and Solaris 9 (SunOS 5.9) are unsupported platforms for eDirectory 8.7
Solaris 7 and 8 are the only supported SunOS platforms for eDirectory 8.7
fix
Even though Solaris 9 is not currently supported, a modified install script is available that allows you to install eDirectory 8.7 on Solaris 9 into test systems. Do not install eDirectory 8.7 into production systems on a Solaris 9 machine. The filename is edir87sol9.tgz and is available in the eDirectory 8.7 Beta Patches section of support.novell.com.
