symptom
Errors checking patch level during second and subsequent installs on Solaris 8
"Checking whether the required patches are applied. Please wait...awk: record 'Patch: 108528_15 Obs...' has too many fields record number 5 done"
"Patch: 108827-20 is not applied. Please apply the latest patch for proper functionality of Novell eDirectory 8.7.0"
note
Here are the steps for duplication:
1 - Install Falcon on Solaris 8 with latest patch levels from Sun --> install seems to go fine.
2 - Use ndsconfig to remove the server from the tree.
3 - Use ndsconfig to add server to a tree, note the following errors when checking patch level:
"%% Checking whether the required patches are applied. Please wait...awk: record 'Patch: 108528_15 Obs...' has too many fields record number 5 done.
%% Patch: 108827-20 is not applied. Please apply the latest patch for proper functionality of Novell eDirectory 8.7.0."
4 - patch 108827-25 is installed on the system, and eDir doesn't recognize it as newer than 108827-20.
5 - This occurs on each successive install attempt. NOTE: Install continues despite the errors.
fix
Novell Engineering is aware of the issue and is working towards a resolution.
