Overview
Novell Technical Support provides this document for the purpose of helping customers during an upgrade to eDirectory 8.6.x It is important to note that you should use this document in conjunction with the product documentation. This document is a LIVING document and will be updated frequently to keep the most current and up to date information available to all customers.
Since this is a LIVING document, all changes made after the previous modified date will be marked with three asteriks (***). This will make scans for just changes a little more efficient.

IMPORTANT: If you are running eDirectory 8.6.0 or eDirectory 8.6.1 then you need to install eDirectory 8.6.2. You can do this in a couple of ways.
If you are running eDirectory 8.6.0 on NetWare 6 then you can either download NW6SP1.EXE from support.novell.com or you can install eDirectory 8.6.2 from dowload.novell.com. Either of these options will get you to the minimum version of eDirectory recommended by Novell.
If you are running eDirectory 8.6.1 on any other platform then you will need to apply EDIR862.EXE from support.novell.com.

COMMON EDIRECTORY 8.6.x ISSUES FOR ALL PLATFORMS

TID #10068235 - Error: -602 after running DSREPAIR -A0 Running DSREPAIR -A0 (with version 10210.15) will fail and cause the Database to not open.

TID #10068026 - NLDAP is not responding to LDAP requests after applying eDirectory 8.6.1 After applying eDirectory 8.6.1 LDAP may not initialize correctly.

TID #10066857 - Error: "Illegal syntax, value is purged" when running DSREPAIR
This issue is very similar to the issue described in TID #10065372 - Directory Services upgrade to eDirectory 8.6, 8.6.1, or 8.5 fails with synchronization . The difference is that in this situation, schema is fine, the objects have bad data. Follow step Fix for Case 3: in TID 10065372.

Not all changes are synchronized throughout the replica ring, but the Transitive Vectors and Local Received Up To attributes both show current times.

DSRepair is reporting the following error: "ERROR: 'flags' field was changed from 00200003 to 00200023
Ambiguous containment flag" for dcObject or federationBoundary class.
