Pre-upgrade Steps

----------- BACKING UP DIRECTORY SERVICES -----------

Grab a database backup for each server being upgraded. The easiest way to backup the dibs is to do the following:

1. /etc/rc.d/init.d/ndsd stop
2. tar up your dib directory
3. Make a copy your nds.conf
4. /etc/rc.d/init.d/ndsd start

CURRENT ISSUES:

NOVL85377 - Adding Linux server hangs at "Synchronizing schema"
Red Hat firewall (ipchains) is turned on and interfering with eDirectory

NOVL86466 - iMonitor fails on UNIX after eDirectory 8.7 upgrade
The "NDS iMonitor" link on the "DHost HTTP Server" page cannot be found

NOVL86296 - ndssnmpsa returns a -1418 and -1411 error when starting on Linux
ERROR: "Unable to Unwrap key, err = -1418"

NOVL83466 - Schema migration from Active Directory to eDirectory fails on Linux

NOVL83640 - eDirectory 8.7 install hangs on Linux [no longer available]
The eDirectory 8.7 install hangs with JVM 1.4.1 on Linux.

NOVL85377 - Adding Linux server hangs at "Synchronizing schema"
Default firewall settings prevent proper eDirectory funcationality.
