fact
Novell eDirectory 8.6.1
Novell NetWare 5.1
symptom
Error: "-128 Remote" running DSRepair | Report Sync Status
Dstrace may or may not show errors.
Getting errors when running Local Database Repair such as "ERROR: Encountered Error: -128 validating stream file for ID: 000086CC"
cause
The maximum number of record locks per connection or File Locks Per Connection is being exceeded and causing an error in report sync status. They will usually clean themselves up which is why you may or may not see them in DSTrace. They will continue to come back until you change the Locks parameters.
fix
Double the "Maximum Record Locks Per Connection" and "Maximum File Locks Per Connection".
Also set the"Maximum Record Locks" to 100000.
These changes may be done by Loading MONITOR | Server Parameters | Locks |
See TID #10025577 for other possible causes for -128 errors.
