Error occurs during inplace upgrade or migration to NetWare 6

Upgrade or Migration to NetWare 6 will not complete

Error occurs during the GUI portion of the install during or right after the screen asking for DNS information

fix

Although this error could have multiple meanings, one possibility is that DIBMIG didn't clean up the old database files and is still trying to load and convert the database each time the install occurs.

This error occurs during the GUI portion of the install usually during or right after the screen asking for DNS information (NOT NDS).  If you toggle to the logger screen, DIBMIG is the last NLM loaded.

If DIBMIG has completed PHASE 3, all that needs to be done is the deletion of the old database files in the _NETWARE directory.  Use a utility such as Tool Box, JCMD, or Compaq File Manager to go into the _NETWARE directory and delete all files with the extension of .??D, where the ?'s can be any character.  IMPORTANT:  Make sure and create a backup of the _NETWARE directory before deleting any files.  It is also recommended that you grab an archive backup of the DS database using DSREPAIR -RC.  The .??D files are a copy of the RECMAN database before conversion.  When DIBMIG converts the database, it doesn't upgrade the live database.  It copies the database into memory, converts it in memory and then creates the new eDirectory database files.  (NDS.01, NDS.DB, x.NDS)

Once all the .??D files have been deleted, restart the inplace upgrade or migration and it should complete without any problems.
