Cannot assign an Org Role or Alias object to an iManager Role

You can assign users, groups, O's and OU's as members of a role

fix

This is working as designed.  In iManager 1.5, the only object types you can assign to a role are:

User
Group
Organization
Organizational Unit

The ablilty to assign an Org Role object or an Alias object should be available in a future release or patch for iManager 1.5.
