If you have DirXML 1.0 installed, follow the steps listed below. Even though the product is installed, you will need to run the installation again to get the patch applied. It will not do a complete installation of the product. The patch name is DXNWPT1.EXE which can be downloaded from support.novell.com.

1. Ensure eDirectory 8.6.1 is installed already.

2. Copy the DirXML 1.0 CD image to a location on your workstation or network.

3. Before unzipping the patch to update the DirXML 1.0 CD image, in the \NW\INSTALL\JAR directory, change the file properties of product.jar to Read/Write or rename the product.jar to product.old.

4. Download and extract the patch to the parent directory of eDirectory. For example, if the CD image has the structure of dirxml1.0\nw, you should extract this patch at the dirxml1.0 directory.

5. Run the DirXML 1.0 installation.

6. Once DirXML is installed, copy the new JClient from SYS\NI\UPDATE\LIB into SYS\SYSTEM\LIB.

Note: If you don't copy the new JClient into SYS\SYSTEM|LIB, you might encounter an "Incompatible JClient/Dclient package" error when starting DirXML drivers.

Note: If you want to run ConsoleOne on a Windows machine, you can download the ConsoleOne snap-ins for DirXML 1.0 from http://download.novell.com.

If you don't have DirXML 1.0 installed yet but you have upgraded to eDirectory 8.6.1 you will need to install DirXML 1.0. Once the installation and configuration is complete, you will need reinstall DirXML 1.0 with the updates included by following the steps listed above.

Note: The patched version of the installation does not do a complete installation and you will have to run the installation twice.
