Upgrading a UNIX host from eDirectory 8.5x to eDirectory 8.6.1
symptom
Upgrade to eDirectory 8.6.1 and apply the DirXML patch to interoperate with this release of eDirectory.
cause
DirXML 1.0 will not run properly on Novell eDirectory 8.6.1 unless the DirXML patch is applied.
fix
*** WARNING ***
When you apply the DirXML 1.0a Patch, DirXML will no longer work on the eDirectory 8.5x host. This patch is needed ONLY if you are upgrading eDirectory 8.5x to eDirectory 8.6.1.
You do not need this patch if you intend to continue running DirXML 1.0 and eDirectory 8.5x on the same UNIX host.
DIRXML 1.0a UPGRADE TASKS
1) Download and extract the DirXML 1.0a Patch for UNIX. TID2961230 - DirXML 1.0a Patch for UNIX (SL) [dxx10a.tgz 26Mb]
2) Upgrade the DirXML files by running the nds-install script as the root user.
3) You may now install Novell eDirectory 8.6.1
a. Type the Novell eDirectory 8.6.1 nds-install command
b. When nds-install completes, type ndsconfig upgrade
