-605 errors after running DSMERGE with eDirectory 8.6

Source tree is running eDirectory 8.6

Server that holds the Master of [Root] partition in Target tree is running eDirectory 8.5

The merge completes, but -605 errors appear in the [Root] partition

Objects under the new Organization are Unknown

Repairing the local database will change all objects under the new Organization to external references.

cause

All objects from the Source tree are now located under a new Organization object in the Target tree.  All objects below this new organization have the wrong partitionID.  The objects should all have the partitionID of the Organization, but they actually have the partitionID of the [ROOT] partition.  

fix

This problem is resolved with eDirectory 8.6.2.  This can be downloaded from:  eDirectory 8.6.2 for NetWare

Once eDirectory 8.6.2 has been applied to all servers showing the error, run a DSREPAIR to repair the local database.

NOTE: Another workaround is as follows:

The Target tree must have eDirectory 8.6 running on the server that holds the Master of [Root].  If the Masters of [ROOT] for both the Target and the Source tree are running eDirectory 8.6, the merge will complete successfully.  If you have completed the merge and you see any of the symptoms listed above, DO NOT run a local repair on the server that holds the Master of the new Organization or you risk losing all objects below that container.  After a merge, there will only be one copy of the new Organization object.  Running a repair will delete all objects under the new Organization.
