cause

SLP has not been correctly configured on the network.  Therefore, the UNIX server cannot locate other NDS servers.

fix

Configure SLP on the network.  For a NetWare network, see TID #10027163 - Configuring SLP for a NetWare server.

Workaround: place the UNIX server on the same subnet as the server holding the master replica of the [Root] partition.

Workaround: Make sure the server is patched to SP1 for NDS Corporate Edition on Unix.  Populate the /etc/hosts.nds file with the IP addresses of the necessary servers to contact so that SLP configuration is not necessary.
