Issue

These .INF files were made available for customers who needed to extract the Hewlett Packard LaserJet Series 4 drivers that shipped with Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 for the purpose of adding these drivers to the NDPS Resource Management Service (RMS) broker. These drivers were not available directly / on all platforms and had only shipped with Windows itself.

For some printer models and Windows platforms, this driver availability has changed. You are recommended to visit www.hp.com and obtain a the needed drivers if available and add those drivers to the RMS instead.

Also, starting with Novell NetWare 5.1 Support Pack 1 and Novell NetWare 5.0 Support Pack 5, an "Extract From File..." option is available which makes using the .INFs included in NDPSINF.EXE unnecessary.

The Windows 95 32-bit driver support for HP Laserjet 4 series printers is accomplished by using a Windows 95 workstation and adding printers using the Add Printer Wizard. Add the following printers to the workstation as local printers and point them all to LPT1:. DO NOT PRINT A TEST PAGE.

Then copy the following files from Windows\System which have been extracted from the Windows 95 CAB files into an empty directory on the network. Notice that only one non-PostScript driver is added using the Wizard because this
is sufficient to extract all the necessary files for all other non-PostScript HP 4 drivers.

Into the same directory copy the HP4_W95.INF file from HP.

Then using the NetWare Administrator (NWAdmn32.EXE) locate the NDPS Broker objects whose Resource Managers need to be updated and selected the corresponding page. Click on the "Add Resources..." button and browse for
the HP4_W95.INF file. Add the resources to the Windows 95/98 group.
