fact

NW6SP3

symptom

Since reboot of the NetWare server, NFS clients have been unable to mount volumes.

Mounting from /etc/vfstab using "mount -a" gives:

nfs mount: nwlon21a: : RPC: Program not registered
nfs mount: backgrounding: /mnt/saturn/notes
nfs mount: nwlon21a: : RPC: Program not registered
nfs mount: backgrounding: /mnt/listings/ufm
top(root)21: umount /mnt/saturn/web

Mounting a directory from the command line gives:

NFS getattr failed for server rvrbtnw01: error 27 (RPC: Received
disconnect from remote)
mount: cannot stat mount-point /mnt/saturn/notes.
mount: Connection refused

Attempts to umount give:

nfs umount: nwlon21a:/group/data/saturn/web server not responding:
RPC: Program not registered

change

Customer had installed NW6SP3 via scripted install, and NFS was lost after subsequent server restart.

cause

During a scripted update of NW6SP3, the NFS daemon load-line had somehow been deleted from the autoexec.ncf. 

fix

Re-adding NFS daemon load-line to autoexec.ncf resolved the issue.
