fact

Novell GroupWise

Novell GroupWise 6.5

symptom

LDAP Error: 32

LDAP failure detected [D06B] User:Userx

LDAP Error: No such object

GroupWise user cannot log in

change

NDS user rename failed during process

Ran out of disk space

fix

In the properties of the user under the GroupWise Account tab | LDAP authentication field | Use the format expected by the LDAP server. For example, eDirectory uses the format cn=username,ou=orgunit,o=organization.

note

Once you have logged in then you can remove the information in the  LDAP authentication field and the user should be able to log in with out this string.

In one case while connected to the destination domain we found that the user object would give the replication in progress error To correct this we disassociate while connected to the destination domain then re-associate while connected to the primary.

If you are using SSL place a copy of the Key in the post office directory where you would normally find it in  the rootserv directory.  This will provide faster authentication.

fix

It is possible for NDS to loose its association with the GroupWise database.  These leave the LDAP server unable to query the GroupWise attribute of the NDS user.  To correct this disassociate the GroupWise user and then re-associate.  Highlight the user | right click | GroupWise Utilities | GW eDirectory association | Disassociate.  Then re- associate:  Highlight the user | right click | GroupWise Utilities | GW/eDirectory association |  Associate.

Also try the following:

1.   In ConsoleOne, Open the user Properties (Click OK on the GroupWise warning).
2.   Go to the Other tab.  You should see several nodes labeled “NGW: xxxxx”.  If not, this is not the correct procedure.
3.   Expand the node labeled NGW: File ID.  Write down the 3 character code (FID) that is displayed.
4    Highlight each of the NGW nodes, and use the Delete button to remove it.
5.   A the changes and Close the User object.
6.   Right-click on the User object.  Select: GroupWise Utilities\ GW/eDirectory Association\ Disassociate GroupWise Attributes…
7.   Open the User object.  You should now see a GroupWise tab.  Go to the Account option and point the Post Office field at the POBOX.
8.   Go to the Other tab.
9.   Click on the Page Options button in the lower left corner.
10.  Highlight the GroupWise node and click on the Disable button on the right.  Click on OK.
11.  Apply the changes and Close the User object.  Re-open it.
12.  Go to the Other tab.
13.  Highlight the NGW: File ID node and click on the Modify button.
14.  Change the value to match the FID you wrote down at the start of the procedure.
15.  Go to the Other tab.
16.  Click on the Page Options button in the lower left corner.
17.  Highlight the GroupWise node and click on the Enable button on the right.  Click on OK.
18.  Apply the changes and Close the User object.
19.  Right-click on the User object.  Select: GroupWise Utilities | GW/eDirectory Association | Associate Objects.
