symptom
After upgrade Files are unable to be moved or copied to any other server or volume
fact
Novell NetWare 6.0
Novell Client 4.83 SP2 for Windows NT/2000/XP
NETSHIELD
symptom
found that if they unloaded the netshield McAfee virus scanner NLM on the server that they also could not modify and save a file either on the volumes.
LAN trace shows that the last thing the client was doing was to do a NCP enumerate Extended attributes. The information in the extended attribute said something about NETA's AV Stamp
found that files could be copied local and then back to the server OR restored from backup and then the files were good from there on , no longer had any problems with those files on the volume.
cause
Netshield now puts extended attribute information when they are scanning files, something in the upgrade/migration process was corrupting those extended attributes.
fix
After obtaining an NLM from McAfee called delnaiea.nlm we were able to completely clear these extended attribute stamps and then the files worked just fine.
