symptom

Receive an error with the CICS RPS Connection

Error in the Application Server Console: "java.io.IOException: CCL6653E: Unable to flow request to the Gateway; this JavaGateway instance has been closed.

Error Calling ECI Transaction. com.sssw.b2b.ee.eci.rt.GNVRPCException: ECI
Exception java.io.IOException: CCL6668E: Initial handshake flow failed.
[ERROR_CONNECTION_FAILED];
 ---> nested java.io.IOException: CCL6668E: Initial handshake flow failed. [ERROR_CONNECTION_FAILED]"

There is an IBM Gateway between the Novell exteNd Application Server and the Main Frame

When the above error appears in the Application Server Console, the IBM Gateway is unresponsive

This problem happens a couple of times a day

cause

The IBM Gateway was not properly configured

fix

Adjusted parameters for the IBM Gateway per information from IBM Support and the as a result the problem was corrected.
