Error: GroupWise Error: D069
You have attempted to open an incompatible backup database. You must either change connection modes or open a different backup database.
POA Error: Attempt to open invalid backup location [D069] user:UserId
fix
A Restore Area had not been defined in Console One. Even though the user had access to the File structure, GroupWise would not allow them to restore the messages until a Restore Area had been defined AND the user was added to the membership of the restore area.

Steps to create a Restore Area:
From Console One | Tools | GroupWise System Operations | Restore Area Management | Create | Give it a name and the UNC path to the post office backup directory. Click on the Membership tab | Add - walk the tree and select either the GroupWise Post Office object or individual users depending on who you want to be able to restore from the backup area.

Assigning Rights to the POA object has been known to resolve this when the Restore Area is the same server or different server, or different volume. Assigning POA object rights can be done in ConsoleOne highlighting the POA object | Right Click | Properties | Rights to Files & Folders tab | Add. Walk the tree to the Restore and Live area directory structures.

The wphost.db file was missing from the restore area. Manually copying the wphost.db file to the restore area got rid of the 8209 error.

Make sure the Server that the live POA is running on has a reference to the Backup server in the HOST file in the SYS:ETC directory.
