Novell GroupWise 6.5

symptom

Error: "unable to perform revocation checking for the signing / encryption certificate unknown error"

fact

If your workstation is unable to connect back to the minting certificate authority you may see this error.

cause

Unable to communicate up the certificate chain. Usually because of firewall restrictions.

fix

If you are not worried about revocation, this can be disabled in the GroupWise Client.

From GroupWise go to Tools | Options | Send | Security tab | Advanced Options. Remove the check from "Check incoming/outgoing security item for revoked certificates."
