symptom

Error: Invalid ID

ID is removed from the list

Error occurs in DSREPAIR

Error occurs with the -A option is used with all defaults selected

cause

This error occurs when bindery group objects were created in NDS 6.x or NDS 7.x.  The EIDs of the members of the group are stored in the "bindery property" attribute on the bindery object.  DIBMIG, the utility that migrates EIDs from the NDS 6.x or NDS 7.x format to the NDS 8 (eDirectory) format does not look at bindery objects and so it does not convert the EIDs.  When the later versions of DSREPAIR (eDirectory 8.6.2 or greater) is ran with the -A option, DSREPAIR reads these bindery objects and tries to verify the IDs.  It will fail because they are the old format.  Because these bindery objects still may be useful, DSREPAIR leaves the object there.  The end result is that the error occurs everytime DSREPAIR is ran.

fix

Currently, the only way to remedy this error is to remove the bindery object and re-create it.  The error does not identify which bindery object.  It will be in the current partition being worked on.

Perform the following to figure out which object it is:
- Use NDS iMonitor or DSBROWSE.
- Go to that partition in question.
- Identify any bindery object in that partition.
- Go to the "bindery property" attribute.  This attribute is multi-valued.
- If using DSBROWSE,  the bindery objects will be at the top.
- Remove the bindery object and re-create the object.  NOTE:  Bindery objects are supported but not recommended.  This is old technology that should be updated sooner than later.  The process of re-creating the bindery object will depend on the application that uses that object.

Development is aware of the issue and is investigating other possible solutions.
