Running a Local Database Repair with "Lock DS" checked causes a DHOST crash on Windows 2000

Single server Windows 2000 tree with 10,000 users.

note

Steps for duplication:

1. Bring up dsrepair and run a Local Database Repair with Lock DS turned on

2. Press the close button once the repair screen reads: "Total repair time: x:xx:xx   Checking stream syntax files"

3. After about 30 minutes, DSRepair will cause DHOST to crash.

4. Recovery requires a reboot of the Windows 2000 box.

fix

As a work-around, do not set Lock DS when running a Local Database Repair.  Novell Engineering is currently working on a resolution to this problem.
