goal
Creation, renaming and addition of volumes to Newtare for Small Business 4.x
fact
Novell Intranetware for Small Business 4.11
Novell NetWare for Small Business 4.11
Novell NetWare for Small Business 4.2
This TID supercedes and obsoletes TID 2945818 and TID 10020921
symptom
During Installation there is no option to create a volume other than Sys.
There is no ability to rename Sys in particular to facilitate the moving of Volumes to new or larger disk drives.
cause
The default installation of these products results in creation of a Sys volume which consumes all availaible partition space.
fix
The solution for NetWare for Small Business 4.2 is to use the Install.nlm from the \Products\NW411\System directory of Service Pack 9
The solution for the 4.11 versions of NetWare for Small Business requires the retention of the original Install.nlm for the eventuality of license addition or reinstallation and the use of the Install.nlm from the \Products\NW411\System directory of Service Pack 9 for the purpose of creating multiple volumes, or remanimg volumes. Prior to the copying of Install.nlm from SP9 to C:\Nwserver and Sys:\System you must rename the current Install.nlm (eg: Install.saf), or it will have to be recovered from the install CD.
note
Initial creation of multiple volumes during installation requires the installation to be halted when the NetWare partiton is created and then the Install.nlm switch made.
Once volume changes have been accomplished the server must be reset.
Subsequent license installation in the case of 4.11 versions requires the original Install.nlm to be in place.
