symptom

Unable to install dirXML 1.1 on eDirectory 8.6.2

fix

Install unixins2.tgz.  Please read the accompanying readme file.

This file contains updated install scripts for:

   Account Management 2.1 International
   ConsoleOne 1.2d
   ConsoleOne 1.33
   DirXML 1.0 International
   DirXML 1.1 International

Once eDirectory 8.5.1 or 8.6.1 has been patched to a newer version, the UNIX products mentioned will not install properly. The included install scripts allow you to install the products on a patched eDirectory 8.5.1 or 8.6.1 Solaris/Linux host.

If there are multiple NIC's or interfaces on the server you will also need to put a line into the NDS.conf to tell the server which interface it needs to access to talk to the tree.  you can determine if there are multiple interfaces by typing the command "ifconfig -a" at the server console.  If there are multiple interfaces then you need to input the following line in your /etc/NDS.conf file. "n4u.server.interfaces=(IP Address)@524  example: n4u.server.interfaces=10.10.10.10@524"  YOU should also configure your hosts.nds file to contain the addresses of all serves in your tree.  The syntax for entering data in that file is as follows: "TREENAME. (IP Address) #server name Example: TEST_TREE. 10.10.10.10 #Server 1".  Note that the #server name is optional, but in a large tree it will help you to keep track of which server(s) have been entered into the file already.  A copy of this file needs to be put on each Solaris or Linux server.
